Words (don’t) come easy – writing Retreat
writing retreat in Camino
when words (don’t) come easy
14-18 June 2026, Camino Art House
Let’s spend four days together practicing one of our greatest passions: writing. You don’t need to be a professional writer to join — this is a space to learn, experiment, practice, and share.
Letters, Instagram captions, short stories, postcards, essays, fiction, diaries, and more — all your words are welcome here.
If writing comes easily to you, this is a chance to shape and direct your voice. If it doesn’t, this is a chance to discover your flow and let the words emerge naturally. Whatever your style or experience, your words will find their place among ours.

Will opening up about my struggles help — for me, and for others?
My name is Bea Baltavari, founder and catalyst of Camino Art House. Right now, I am writing the Camino Book — a reflection on ten years of this very special project.
And yes, many days, I struggle.
Sometimes I feel my story is boring. Sometimes I cannot find the right words. Other times I write too much, too deeply, too complicatedly — or nothing at all for weeks.
But maybe this is also part of the writing journey: learning how to stay present with our voice, even in doubt, silence, or imperfection.
Perhaps by opening up about these struggles, we can help each other feel a little less alone in the creative process.

the writing retreat
I invite you to spend four days away from your daily life and focus on writing. Sometimes, stepping away from life helps us see it more clearly 🙂
I started my professional writing journey at 18, spending an entire summer behind a desk in the editorial office of a local daily newspaper in Hungary. But in truth, I knew much earlier that I would become a journalist.
I was 14, sitting in an incredibly boring accounting class in high school, secretly working on my literature homework instead. I was writing a short analysis of a revolutionary poem by a famous journalist-poet when I suddenly realized: if I became a journalist, I would always be close to important happenings, stories, and people.
So I did.
I worked as a journalist from the age of 18 until I opened Camino. And now, I am finally fulfilling another dream: writing books.
I did write a documentary book once, but that still felt close to journalism. This new book is much more personal — and maybe that is exactly where the challenge lies. Some days I ask myself: was it a good idea to begin at all?
But perhaps that question is also part of every honest creative journey.
On the 4 days of this writing retreat, we will do exercises that help you in many ways:
- find your artistic voice
- find the work flow of writing
- generate ideas
- boost your creativity
- open up your inner world
- build confidence
- strengthen your focus
Daily schedule:
(6 am – 8 am — Golden Morning Hours only for the very committed)
10 am – 11 am — Morning practices in group
11 am – 13 pm — Morning class
16 pm – 18 pm — Afternoon class
20 pm – 22 pm — Sharing and evening program
The retreat starts on 14th June at 6pm with gathering and family dinner and finishes on 18th at 6pm.
Some of the methods we will explore and practice include reading, storytelling, storymaking, free writing, visualization, meditation, structuring, vocabulary expansion, visual art making, and much more.
The aim of this retreat is not necessarily to complete your piece here — later this year, we will dedicate a longer period specifically to deeper writing work.
This retreat is about getting into shape: reconnecting with your words, your imagination, your creativity, and your confidence.
Please note that I am not a native English speaker, so this is not a grammar coaching workshop. We are here to play, explore, experiment, and open creative doors together.
And of course, you are very welcome to write and practice in your own language.
Contribution
We kindly ask you to contribute 150€ in total for the 4 days reatreat. This includes: 4 nights accommodation (in shared dormitory rooms, house or cave) and 4 tiems breakfast/lunch/dinner. If you want a private room, let us know in advance, it is possible to book one with some extra cost.
