Dear Visitor! We are glad you are here!

We collected the most often asked questions here and we hope the list of the answers will help you to find what you are looking for! If it does not, please contact us!

We are on google map, just search for Camino Art House (we are located in Vega de San Mateo, Gran Canaria, Spain). Google also give very good advice on how to get to our place, it is worth to follow it, including time tables for the bus.
If you need more help to find us, please read this article here and have a look at the photos and drawings.

Volunteering is a big part of our project. We are trying to create a win-win-win situation with this project: beneficial for Camino, for the volunteers, and by being committed and passionate about our work, we hope for the whole world. If you want to volunteer with us please read this article and follow the steps how to apply. Thank you very much for your interest!

We have a fair price calculation. We know that our facilities are very basic, and we do promote simple living. We have bit higher prices for the winter season (from november till april). Our price range moves between 12€ and 50€ depending if its a shared or private room, if its in the house or in the land. In the time of events, this price can go up with 10% (more or less). If you want to stay with us please contact us!

In winter we can discuss long-term discounted prices only for shared rooms or tents. In the summer time we are happy to offer special prices for all our rooms.

We have a nice food project that are organized by the volunteers. We offer vegan (sometimes with vegetarian options) dinner and breakfast for our guests for donation. We have a minimum price for your contribution, but you are welcome to give more if you liked the food 🙂 To know more about this project please read this article.
We do have a kitchen that is available to use. We kindly ask you not to use the kitchen between 6-8 pm because we are preparing dinner for mostly everyone in the house, and the kitchen is small.

Our main building is tiny. This makes the vibe very special because we spend time together. Sometimes it feels like dancing, especially in the kitchen. We have the main bathroom in the house with hot shower and regular english toilet, we recycle the water from the sink to flush the it (very simple way: the sink water runs into a bucket and we use this bucket of water for flushing). There is one more tiny shower in the building with hot water. In the land we builed 4 dry toilets (two in the spa, one in the campsite, one in the front garden) please use these as well, we clean them every day. In the Spa you can find two outdoor showers with cold water. One of the most wonderful thing is to take showere there and feel the warm air and the bless of the sun on your skin. When you shower here you are also watering our small spa garden.
You are welcome to use the kitchen, although we don’t have much room to store food. We offer tasty vegan dinner every day, so if you feel like sharing the dinner with us, please don’t do a large shopping before arriving to Camino. You are welcome to have coffee and tea in Camino, you can also use the spices that you find, but please respect the food of the volunteers that they also use for cooking the family dinner.

Vega de San Mateo offers a few things: there is a swimming pool in town, just beside the library. Many restaurants and bars. Large supermarkets. The town hosts a wonderful farmer’s market on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with special programs on Sundays starting from about 11am until 2pm.
You can find Eco Huerta at our neighbourhood, only 1km from Camino. It is an eco garden where you can buy vegies, and participate in different food-related programs.

Yes! You can start your hikes right from our gate. There are many possibilities from 40 min to 4 hours. The most popular hike from Vega de San Mateo is to climb up to Pico de Las Nieves and back. It is about 23 km and people like to do it on one day.

Yes, we have a camp site, we offer Camino tents for one or two people with matts, beddings and pillows. You can also arrive with your own tent, in this case we don’t provide matts, beddings or pillows – you need to bring your own.
